Irene Lewnard, MD was first inspired to become a physician by her grandfather who started his medical career as a family physician and later trained as an anesthesiologist, and her aunt who is a pathologist. She says they both believed strongly in serving their communities. Dr. Lewnard was inspired to go into the OB/GYN specialty by a mentor during medical school who had great compassion and skill in caring for her patients. āI enjoy the relationships OB/GYNs develop with women at all stages of life, from adolescence through menopause,ā says Dr. Lewnard. āIt is a privilege to participate in both joyful and challenging moments in their lives. I like that we are able to offer a wide variety of medical and surgical options to best help our patients.ā
āI always try to listen to each patient carefully to understand their individual concerns and priorities, and how I can best help them,” says Dr. Lewnard. “It is important to me that each patient completely understands all of the treatment options and participate in the decision-making process.ā
Dr. Lewnard is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Outside of work, Dr. Lewnard enjoys travel, outdoor activities, music, and spending time with her fiancƩ, family and friends.
