Hello! My name is Kristin Lacy, and I am the Owner of Birth and More Wellness. For over 20 years, I provided birth & postpartum doula services as well as childbirth education to hundreds of families. I have built an incredible team of talented doulas to support our clients and am proud of the Birth and More reputation in our community. In 2020, I transitioned to focusing solely on providing childbirth education through programs like Birth Detroit – only occasionally serving as a backup doula for my team. I welcome you to our family and look forward to serving you!

The following is a little bit more about me and how I became passionate about birth.

My first pregnancy was very challenging, and it made me think that there had to be a better way to give birth. I was kind of embarrassed about feeling that way because I had a great “medicalized” team of doctors. I just didn’t realize soon enough that they weren’t the best fit for me.

A few years later, I was working at a pediatrician’s office, and a woman came in just raving about her incredible birth experience. She mentioned using a doula, and I had to learn more. Once I did, I realized that I had found my calling. Throughout my journey as a doula, it has resonated with me that the more hands-off you are with women, the better the outcomes are for women and their families.

I’ve trained in various organizations such as CAPPA- Birth Doula, and DONA International. I received several Birth Doula certifications from DONA, Health Connect One, Train the Trainer, Birth Doula & Breast-Feeding Peer Counselor, Commonsense Childbirth Inc, MCH specialist training, Lamaze International, childbirth educator, Spinning Babies, and the Rebozo technique.

I am active in our local birth community, hosting events such as Gail Tully’s Spinning Babies workshop in the spring of 2012; I have taught childbirth education classes and received my Lamaze certification from Lamaze International. I am also certified in neonatal resuscitation and infant/child/adult CPR.

I am now accepting Midwifery clients under supervision in Livingston and Oakland counties! I look forward to working with you and supporting you through your journey.
